Cayenne & Commitment Issues is my signature bake — a deeply fudgy chocolate–molasses crinkle with a quiet heat of cayenne that lingers. It’s my most popular because it’s comforting but honest: familiar at first bite, then a little confrontational. People love it because it feels human — rich, balanced, and made for those who know that dessert can hold both sweetness and bite.
Who is your favorite person to bake for and what do you make most for them?
My favorite person to bake for is my husband—my best friend, biggest supporter, and the reason I believe in bake therapy. He’s my most honest critic and fully committed to telling me when something’s a mess. I bake him lemon and maple anything, and his forever favorite is carrot cake. I also rely on a fearless group of coworkers who taste-test early, speak plainly, and help wrestle recipes into something worth serving.
How would you use the $10,000?
I’d invest the $10,000 directly into launching my home-based cottage bakery—covering licensing, equipment, and the infrastructure needed to build it sustainably and without burnout. It would turn years of scratch baking into a real, working business. I’d also set aside a portion to give back to community organizations in my Dorchester neighborhood, because building something meaningful should support the people and place that shaped me.
