My vanilla cake with lemon curd filling and vanilla buttercream is a crowd favorite for its perfect balance of flavor and texture. The cake is rich and buttery, the lemon curd adds a burst of brightness, and the creamy buttercream ties it all together beautifully.
Who is your favorite person to bake for and what do you make most for them?
My children are my favorite people to bake for. They bring joy and imagination to everything we create together. This began as baking their birthday cakes and has grown into a shared love of experimenting with flavors. My son always chooses my decadent chocolate cake, and my 2nd oldest lights up for vanilla with lemon. Then, I challenge myself with each cake to make a unique design fit for their personalities. Watching them enjoy something made with love, is the reason I bake.
How would you use the $10,000?
If I were to win, I would put the $10,000 toward opening my own bakery. Baking has always been my happy place—it’s where I unwind, create, and share love through food. This step would let me spend more time with my children and show them that it’s never too late to follow your passion, all while bringing homemade sweetness to my community.
