My signature bake is the Sarawak Kek Lapis, a traditional Malaysian layered cake baked patiently one layer at a time. Its rich, buttery flavour and vibrant layers reflect love, artistry, and heritage. It’s my most popular treat because it connects people to the warmth and nostalgia of home.
Who is your favorite person to bake for and what do you make most for them?
I love baking the flavors my children wish for. Recently, I made a strawberry and pandan Kek Lapis that looked just like a watermelon! The colors were playful, the flavors sweet, and the best part was hearing my kids laugh and say, “It looks like a watermelon, but taste like strawberry! You are Awesome, Mommy!” Moments like that make baking so special. Sharing the cake with neighbours and seeing their smiles makes me happy and brings us closer.
How would you use the $10,000?
As a stay-at-home mom, I love baking for my family, friends, and neighbours. Seeing their smiles brings me joy! With $10,000, I could grow my Kek Lapis (Layered Cake) business, invest in better equipment, quality ingredients, and packaging so I can start selling more. This would help me turn my passion into a full-fledged business, sharing the authentic taste of Sarawak Kek Lapis and spreading love through every layer.
