I don’t really have a “signature” bake. But if I had to pick one, I guess I could say I get asked for my carrot cake & baklava quite often. My carrot cake because its moist and delicious, and the icing is not overwhelmingly sweet. My baklava because I do a mix in the nuts between pistachios & walnuts, and I use a little orange in my syrup.
Who is your favorite person to bake for and what do you make most for them?
My favourite person to bake for was my partner Jason, unfortunately he unexpectedly passed away this past August. So my next favourite to bake for is my 12-step recovery groups, I bake celebration cakes to recognize/celebrate peoples milestones in recovery, & for friends & family whenever they need a pick me up. If I can bake something with love, to help turn someones frown into a smile, or help make them feel more thought about, cared about, it is worth every second spent measuring & mixing.
How would you use the $10,000?
I’m not sure how I would spend all of it, but part of it would purchase a slightly bigger freezer, and some more stackable cooling trays. Also my daughter just had my first granddaughter, so I would use some of it to visit them.
