Years ago, I made thumbprint cookies for my baby shower. I frosted them with blue for my baby boy. I remember my dad running inside to ask who made the blue frosted cookies, & did we have any more. Ever since then, I've been the official cookie baker of the family. A few years later, I started my career as a Cake Artist and Samantha's Sweets had begun. My Best Thumbprint Cookies, rolled in finely chopped walnuts & topped with sweet butter cream, have made so many sweet smiles over the years.
Who is your favorite person to bake for and what do you make most for them?
I'm an Italian mom, so I love to bake for my boys of course. My son, my guy, and my dad are all major cookie/cake monsters. They each have their favorite cookie and cake flavor, from thumbprints, to Russian tea cakes, and my signature chocolate chip. Baking is definitely how I show my love to those close to me. Making people's special moments a little sweeter with my creations, is definitely a true blessing.
How would you use the $10,000?
I would use the $10,000 to start my cake business back up. I currently do not have a commercial kitchen to bake out of. I bake only for family & friends. I would definitely like to open a little cake shop again. I used my home kitchen, which was licensed & inspected, for Samantha's Sweets. We had to sell the house due to financial hardship & divorce. It was an extremely difficult time, as my cake business was growing & successful. I even got the chance to be recognized by Buddy V. years ago.
