Ive been making Amish friendship bread for over a decade now. Given the name, I enjoy the expression that people have. It takes around ten days before baking which really makes it a labor of love. Being able to split the starter and share with friends, so they also get to create and share is reminiscent of the day my mother brought back our first starter. Its spongy, yeasty and has the golden brown delicious-ness! It can have so many different additions that makes it special to each baker.
Who is your favorite person to bake for and what do you make most for them?
My mother has been my biggest motivation. She tells the story of me sitting on the counter as a child, watching as she would prepare things. So she has shared her love of cooking with me. My number one fan, who consistently asks for a focaccia (for herself). Helped put me through baking school. Has always told me to keep pursuing my dream. Coaching me meanwhile to "be patient" which has carried into many aspects of my life that I am always gracious of
How would you use the $10,000?
I would use it to fund the dream. An at home bakery where I could raise my child in. So they too can share those memories. I dont come from a financially gross household. But my family has always seen the spark. So I would use it as a means to stoke the fire I have in me. I will always be a Baker. So those funds would really help me level up so that I can share my passion with my community and my loved ones.
